We (ECHO) had a group of 22 high schoolers from Indiana come to the farm for 9 days. Their labor and enthusiasm allowed us to accomplish in a week what would normal take us months. The amount of weeding and mulching and planting and repairing that they completed in the rainforest would have taken me over a month, in which time the weeds would have returned and probably overthrown me and established a feudal system of government (weeds have a ways to go with the democratic process). What follows are a few pictures of our activities.
Draining the duck pond. Under the layer of water is two feet of muck.
I told you.
The Indiana crew on their last day.
Thanks Indiana, you are looked forward to every year.
New experiences in the last seven days:
1. Got stung by two wasps in five seconds (it sucks)
2. Picked up a goose
3. Milked a goat
Still working with teenagers! Awesome! And from the way you looked in the picture above..looks like you all enjoyed a game of MUCK WARS!!!!!!!!!! Hurray!
ReplyDeleteKeep on having fun and plantin seeds Lotze!
PS...what happened when you picked up the goose? I remember they used to chase me and sometimes...their bills were very close to my skin!
As far as the wasp...does suck...I had one get in my workout pants....and went to town on my thigh! Stung me many times before I could kill it against my leg.... Broke out all over in hives! How does a wasp get inside workout pants? Look out, Lotze! They could be anywhere! Hope u be ok!
